Privacy Policy

Öcha is a calm place to read. That principle applies to your data too: we collect what's needed to run your reader, nothing for advertising, and we never sell it.

What we collect

• Your account — your email address and (optionally) name, so you can sign in and your reading follows you across devices.
• What you follow and save — the feeds and sources you subscribe to, pages you save, and the article text/metadata fetched for those, so they're there when you come back.
• Reading activity — read/unread, starred, and archived state, plus your highlights and notes, so the reader stays in sync.
• Device details (extension) — a random install ID, your browser, and timezone, used to keep your sessions and to time notifications to your quiet hours.
• Product analytics — first-party events such as landing page views, preview starts, source adds, and signup completion, so we can understand where the product is confusing. We do not store raw IP addresses or full user-agent strings for this.
• Donations — if you choose to tip, payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
• Newsletter mail — if you use an Öcha mailbox alias, newsletters sent to it are delivered into your reader.

What the browser extension does

The extension stores only a sign-in token and a small offline cache of your own articles, on your device. It talks to readocha.com and nothing else. It reads a page's address and title only when you save it. It contains no analytics and no AI, and it cannot see your browsing history.

How we use it

Only to run the product: show your reader, sync it across the web app, extension, and mobile app, send the alerts and emails you set up, and keep the service secure. First-party analytics help us improve the signup and reader experience. We don't build advertising profiles and we show no ads.

Who processes it

We use a small set of infrastructure providers to deliver the service — hosting and database (Vercel, Neon), payments for donations (Stripe), transactional email (Resend), newsletter routing (Cloudflare), and privacy-respecting product analytics on the website. Each only processes what it needs to do its job.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your personal data.
• Track your browsing across the web.
• Show ads or share your reading for advertising.

Your choices

You can export your data and delete your account from the app at any time; deleting your account removes your associated data. You can revoke a connected browser from your devices, and disconnect the extension to clear its local token and cache.
